Notable Ogstons (Part 1)

Sir Alexander Ogston KCVO FRS CM MD (19 April 1844 – 1 February 1929) was a British surgeon, famous for his discovery of Staphylococcus. He was the eldest son of Prof. Francis Ogston (1803–1887), Professor of Medical Jurisprudence at the University of Aberdeen.

Alexander George Ogston FAA FRS (30 January 1911 – 29 June 1996) was a biochemist who specialised in the thermodynamics of biological systems. He was particularly interested in connective tissue and the use of physico-chemical methods to study the size, weight and structure of molecules. He made the "three-point attachment" contribution to stereochemistry. His grandfather was Sir Alexander Ogston, a Scottish surgeon.

John Kessack Ogston (15 January 1939 – 16 August 2017) was a Scottish professional footballer, who played as a goalkeeper for Aberdeen, Liverpool and Doncaster Rovers.

Cyril Ogston was the founder of the hamlet of Seven Persons, Alberta. Ogston was a late-nineteenth-century Mormon who practised polygamy in line with his Church's teachings at the time. In 1862, the United States Congress made the practice illegal, and many Mormons fled to Canada in order to escape prosecution, and to set up Mormon communities there. Ogston was one of these, leaving Utah and founding Seven Persons.
